About Us

Opening in 2023, The Field Station is an international artists residency centre located on the remote Arctic island of Ingøy (71° N), off the coast of Northern Norway. Our residencies support the development of new work by national and international artists, groups and organisations working in all art forms. We also create and host a number of one-off creative projects, and offer a range of residential courses & workshops, tutored art retreats, and bespoke residential projects throughout the year for individuals, organisations and businesses.

The Field Station provides a practical and creation centred environment that empowers the individual artist while fostering the potential for collaboration with other visiting artists, the local community on Ingøy and the wider area of Finnmark.

The Field Station has the capacity for around 200 visiting artists across the year, split into Spring & Summer and Autumn & Winter residency programs. We offer both fully funded and independently-funded residencies for artists working in all disciplines, at all career levels and from anywhere in the world. Funded opportunities are awarded following an open call and application process. Independently-funded residencies provide opportunities for artists with their own funding, such as from academic institutions, public funding or foundations. We also work with individual artists to help them secure funding.
